Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15 1996 in Stavanger and is known professionally as Aurora often stylized in uppercase as AURORA is an Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15, 2015 receiving rave reviews from the music blogosphere as well as press. She has recorded several high-profile covers, such as Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the band Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that were widely appreciated. Her name was also recognized from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Enjoy her day. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a piano in her loft, and becoming fascinated by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes urged Aurora Aksnes to take up music as an interest or profession. To achieve this she started writing her own new compositions. She points to renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as inspirations, and also a love for Bjork's style. Her mother encouraged her to perform her music publicly, not for the sake of trying to achieve fame, but rather to inspire others to realize just how important they are and what they can contribute to the world. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six, and began creating music when she was nine. Her family didn't hear about it until she turned 14. Aurora did not have a set goal. She says she just likes writing songs. Music to her is the ideal way to be able to feel any emotion.
